Our intention is to leave you with a database of high-resolution images of any painting, bust or statue. If a painting was ever damaged or destroyed, the images on the CD-ROMs would be used as evidence of its condition and confirmation of the valuation. The pictures would also be of vital reference information to any restoration artist. Paintings are photographed with and without an industry standard colour and black & white tone chart. Attention to detail is given to the exposure and mouldings on frames as well as identifying any inscription on the frames. Often paintings are hung in inaccessible places and it would be too difficult and time consuming to take down. We can photograph them in-situ without loss of detail and colour balance, whilst still retaining the correct perspective. Busts and statuettes may have to be photographed in-situ without the luxury of artificial lighting. In both cases illustrated we had confusing background "clutter". By removing these distractions we were able to create images that focussed on their condition and value
