Silverware, because of its highly reflective surface, is regarded as one of the most difficult subjects to photograph successfully. Conventionally controlled studio lighting is not an option with such expensive items. It has to be shot on the college premises. By using specially designed equipment to handle both silver and glass, we can create high resolution images that reflect the value and condition of your collection. Each item of silverware has its own electronic folder, and is photographed with and without a measuring ruler. The whole collection is stored on CD-Rom disks Close up images are taken of any engraving and style detailing on each item. Macro shots (very close up) are taken of the all-important hallmark. It's worth remembering that replacement hand- engraving costs on an old piece of silver can be as expensive as the value of the piece itself.
